. To shave 100 minutes off, just switching from Windows to Linux, there shouldn't be that big a difference? XP was running the 6.05 SSE2 app.
EDIT: Dang it, I still have 6.04 tasks in there... Dunno why, but XP was averaging about 25,500 with SSE2, which makes a better comparison.
As you found out, you still had some tasks processing with 6.04. On average, it looks like the Linux application still has a 5-10% advantage over the 6.05 application, but this is a far cry from what it used to be, with the Linux application having a 20-30% advantage...
May be it's a vista thing heres the error i keep getting in boinc massage tab 13/11/2008 12:52:41 p.m.|Einstein@Home|Message from server: To get more Einstein@Home work, finish current work, stop BOINC, remove app_info.xml file, and restart.
13/11/2008 12:52:41 p.m.|Einstein@Home|Message from server: No work sent
when i remove the appinfo file it replaces it with the 6.04 app
We are running App 6.05 on four boxes with 32 bit Vista with no problems. However, the difference is we are using BOINC ver. 5.10.45. Maybe the problem is the newer version of BOINC in combination with Vista?

Just curious if when you started up BOINC with the 605 app, did you also get a message in the log "Einstein@Home|Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform
" and was the app running while you were getting the other message? Was it crunching, was there cpu time, and was the WU making progress?
I've got a Vista 32bit pc that has the 605 on it though I'm running 5.10.45 right now. I'd switch over to 6.2.19 now to check it out, but I've got a cache full of SETI on it at the moment, so it will take me a bit to run it down to make the change. Unless someone else with Vista has more info and using 6.2.19 already (which to be honest I thought would be the case by now).

Strange.
I thought someone else here posted an app_info.xml to smuggle in the 6.05 to finish 6.04 tasks. Using this might help.
If not: Could you try resetting the project? In detail this would be:
- set the project to "no new tasks"
- let the tasks in progress (with 6.04) finish (you could suspend or abort the tasks not started yet and even the ones in progress if you don't care about the credit)
- "update" the project to report the finished tasks
- reset the project
- install the 6.05
- restart the client (not only the manager, i.e. don't just close the Window, choose "exit" from the "File" menu)
- "allow more tasks" for the project

Has anyone used app 6.05 with Vista 32bit? Using Boinc 6.2.19 it keeps saying to remove app_info.xml in red writeing. Thank's for any clues

Runs just fine: host 831490
That box runs BOINC v5, but I also run BOINC v6 under XP - no problems there either: host 1226365.

I'm on 6.2.18 and Vista 64bit, works like a charm!

In fact I have ran this. App 6.05 with Vista 32 bit, worked fine. I'm now using 6.3.21, works fine as well.

Do you still get the error?
