Installed all the 6.06 files on 2 PCs, and everything started up fine. Now running to see how long they take compared to the 6.05 application. I will look at them later this morning and should have a good idea on 6 - 8 WUs on both rigs.

If the file is not renamed it means that an old checkpoint is not overwritten by a new one, i.e. the checkpointing is actually completely broken.
There will probably soon be another release.

Ok, I just suspended the 6.06 on my pc till a new release.
thanks.
This begs from me. I have two that have validated (6.04 switched to 6.06). I'm under the assumption that since they validated, they work is on par. Is the checkpoint issue not a problem then with valid science? Is .04 (or .05) switch to 6.06 ok or even a straight run of WU with 6.06? I see Byron suspending work but Bernd made no mention of stopping the run of the new beta app. I'm confused... should I do the same? I don't want to bork the science.

I suspended becuase I'm running the AP opti app on a single core pc with the new Einstein Beta, and I was afraid that if there's no working checkpointing, I could be wasting my time with them because of the switching back and forth between the tasks on the pc. So I thought it would be better for me if I waited for an update with checkpointing.

If you leave the app in memory while suspended and the system doesn't crash or reboot or BOINC restart before WU completion, you should be OK.
A risk, I know. But if you've got a stable system and you don't mess around start/stopping BOINC, you should be able to get away with it.

Looked at stderr.txt for next task running and getting similar.
Should I abort and back down to 6.05?

I'm receiving the same, but I do have validation (the other two are pending).

Ok. I'll let it keep running. Bernd should definately look into it because it says [CRITICAL], but in fact it may not be.

There shouldn't be any difference in speed comparing to the 6.05 if the 6.05 ran on your computer.
I'd be curious to know how the 6.04_0 compares to the 6.06_0 and the 6.04_1 to 6.06_1 (does s.o. get what I mean by this?).
