The problem with using them when there is more than one search running is that when you use the anonymous platform to accommodate them, the project will only send work for applications which are explicitly described by the app_info file.
IOW, you are taking manual control over which applications get installed for the project.
When you don't have an app_info file, this automatic mode. The project will send whatever application is required to run the work which it has available and is proposing to send to the host.
