I had similar problems when I attempted to over clock my computer. I was not overheating and as far as I could tell everything else worked ok. I guess the floating point hw could not keep the pace.
this has a lot of hits but no answers. IS there a reason why every WU erors out?
Paul, there are two basic problems shown in your results, file access errors for the checkpoint file and some module getting access violations (0xC0000005). Could be these are just different symptoms of one problem or two different problems.
Are you running graphics - either the screensaver or "show graphics"? Thats usually the cause of 0xC0000005 errors. If so, set the screensaver to "none" or "blank" and don't "show graphics". Run that way for a while and see if the problems go away.

Isn't part of the point to see what you are doing? if this is a common problem why isn't there a patch or fix or upgrade to cure the problem? I like the graphics and I hope that the admins are working on the problem.
Yes, for some people it is part of the point to see what is being done. however, in the case where the observation is corrupting the science one must decide which is the more important of the two priorities.
yes, I do believe the dev is working on it. I know they have fixed some graphics problems in the past and are working on some others right now. Hopefully this problem will be fixed soon and you can go back to enjoying the graphics.
As far as why is a fix not been released? There are a variety of possibilties. Maybe they have priorities this particular problem just a little lower than some of the other problems. Perhaps they don't have enough data to determine the origin of the problem. Perhaps they are doing in house testing on new code to make sure it works for a small set of computers prior to releasing it to a larger set.
I hope you have enjoyed your stay here with us at Einstein, and I do hope you continue to stay and help us grow. In a couple of months / years we can look back at this and remenice.

Its not all that common, except for people running ATI graphics cards with recent drivers.
The idea of not running graphics was to see if thats your problem. If the WU's complete normally without a graphical display then you found it. If they still get 0xC0000005 errors then its a different problem and more info would be needed. But first, do the WU's run to completion if you disable the graphics?
If they do, and you want to see the graphics, a beta version of the E@H application is available. Just follow this link: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/app_test.php. I got that from the home page. Do be aware that switching to the beta app will restart the WU from the beginning.
If WU's still end with errors then more info is needed. Starting with which module its in when it fails. Look here for a writeup on using Process Explorer to find the module. In your case its the instruction at 0x7C91432F, probably the same module as the other problem but a slightly different area. Or same problem but different version.
I just restarted the screen saver, I also looked at the other results from other computers for the same WU's. What I seen is a fairly common problem, with about HALF of the computers reporting errors. and with the number of hits this thread has had I'd say it is something to look into. I do understand that the number of views per the number of einstien@home users is probably pretty small. But when it's you having the problem, it's huge. And as far as the opinion the science is more important, I don't want say you're wrong, close, but not wrong, the true importance of the graphics is in the information, and most important, the education, it provides. If you look at the graphics, get a position, then go outside and look,or gaze through a telescope, you put the SCIENCE into perspective and you just became that much more motivated. Enough soapbox, if I have a problem again, I will report it and shut down the screen saver and just run the science, but I think the problem should be looked into, if it is a problem with new drivers, you should patch it, or risk a LOT OF the SCIENCE not getting done, because a lot of new computers/users are not going to understand just what the SCIENCE is all about without the graghics and shut down completely.

Paul,
They've been aware of the graphics problem for awhile. Check out this link, its about a beta version of the science app thats supposed to fix it. And a thread on the beta is here (in Cafe Einstein).
If it turns out that running the screensaver does cause the errors, it would be well worth your time to install the beta and run it. With the screensaver active of course.

In the log-files of your WU's one can find following messages:
This is mainly caused by having no authorization to access the files.
Check the access rights of the BOINC User.
