Hi,

is Bruce going under, out for Holiday or fear of answering for the Problems E@H currently have?
The Problems wich the Project have at the moment are not quite funny and I'm thinking about to change the Project before the current S5-Line is ended. It making me sad for a Project that run stable for a long time ago.

Greetings... who hope the problems will fix and gone.

Greetings from the North

Where is Bruce?

Bruce Allen and the Einstein@Home project team has worked obviously VERY hard for the stability and reliability for this project. The sheer volume of data, and work units being computed and transfered is not a small task to maintenance. If you search through other message board posts, you will see the answers to all questions that have come about from recent downtime...

I also recognize and

I also recognize and appreciate all of the work that Bruce has done in keeping this one of the most reliable projects I've worked with, which is one of the main reasons I've dedicated all my boxes to it. However, lately, the issues seem to have no end in sight. It's been several days since there was an official update, and today or tomorrow should be the end of SR5R1, but without any sort of reporting available, there is no way to know now when that will be. It may seem like reporting is secondary to getting the data in, but don't think for a second that Einstein is not hemorrhaging computers and users to other projects, and the longer that the lack of communication goes on, the less willing that users will be to give a second chance to the project for their donation of computing time. I totally understand that they are working feverishly on the problems, but we need more feedback, especially during this crucial time in which no one seems to know if the project will be in hiatus while transitioning to a new dataset, or whether there will be a new application with a new algorithm to run on the rest of the data available on S5 from the detectors (haven't seen any update on the Applications page that would indicate we will soon be downloading any new apps). I for one would appreciate some sort of update on the main page, as I think that would go a long way in keeping us in the loop.

It is mentioned somewhere in this message boards, but I will try to summarize:
- the current S5R1 WUs are from the first part of the data (~80GB)
- during our processing of the S5R1 WUs there is still more data gathered (~160GB)
- Bernd (and others) are working on a totally new algorithm to process the data

I don't know if we will see this new app sooner or later but I'm sure we will get more WUs from the other 160GB of data which are still totally unprocessed... (perhaps S5R2?).

...don't get worried... just let your boxes run...
lets process the little rest of the WUs...
My boxes succeed in connecting to the server from time to time... in the meantime they work on a secondary project with a very low ressource share (QMC in my case)...
