Not even a new download, according to the timestamps on my .exe file. Just a new display name, which shows up in BOINC 5.8, but not my old faithful 5.3.12.tx36 - not sure where the changeover comes.
I seem to remember some discussion about a new "friendly name" mechanism for apps, possibly to do with the changes implementing the 'simple GUI' in 5.8
BoincView (from about 1.4.1) has an option to unselect "Show user-friendly application names" -- since the Core Client's messages and logs still use the real file names, the new UF ones, which only appear in the Tasks tab, can be confusing.

Thanks for the heads-up, but it's not in my BoincView 1.4.1
Looking at the 'history' section of the BoincView website, it'll be in 1.4.2, but that's still in beta.

Hmmmm interesting, on the host I was looking at when I posted I have both an S5R1 and an S5RI app in the EAH folder. Both have the same MD5, so maybe that has to do with running an older client as well (5.2.13).

After checking some of my other ones, this guy some other 'flotsam' anomalies as well. :-)
I guess I really should run the cache down and reset it. ;-)
What's the difference between S5R1 and Faster-all-sky ?
)
AFAIK, there hasn't been a new app release (or a beta for testing) lately, it's still 4.24.
However there was a naming change to S5RI for the current run which leads to DL'ing the app again. IOW, same app different name.
HTH,

Yes, I'm pretty sure it started with 5.8.x.
