Hi,

New user. What exactly is my computer crunching? Can I see the numbers, pictures, etc? I'm curious as I enjoy helping out for the name of science.

The Nine Billion Names of God

The Nine Billion Names of God LOL.
That's a good question though. I'd like to know too.

Maybe this link will help:  https://einsteinathome.org/about

Also I would suggest that you create a profile and make your  computers visible to others.  Making your comuters visable to others does not pose a threat or risk to you, but unless we can "see" your hardware we might not be able to help should you need help.  In my time here and there are others with a lot more time invested then I have everyone wants to help out new/old members when they can.

Under that link, there is a good  description of the gamma ray pulsar research, https://einsteinathome.org/content/fgrp. I suppose it addresses "what exactly is my computer crunching" about exactly as possible without getting folks lost in the mathematical weeds. It would be nice to have a similar description of what goes into E@H gravitational wave analyses. Examples of the mathematical weeds for the gravitational wave work, published last year, https://arxiv.org/abs/1903.09119 and https://arxiv.org/abs/1901.08998, are linked under the About > Publications section.

There is this new YouTube video ....

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Directly related to the OP,

Directly related to the OP, can someone please link the tasks to the names??

For example, there are (list taken from project settings):

1. Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)

2. Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, GPU)

3. Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1

4. Gamma-ray pulsar search #5

5. Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 (GPU)

6. Continuous Gravitational Wave search O2 All-Sky

7. Gravitational Wave Injection run on LIGO O1 Open Data

8. Gravitational Wave search O2 Multi-Directional

9. Gravitational Wave search O2 Multi-Directional GPU

Now, the tasks have long and weird names. So I think it would be easier to see what you're working on, as which task is related to what project.

For example, the task name starting with "LATeah" seems to belong to FGRPSSE (why the 'sse' ending, when on the stats page there's FGRP5 and FGRPB1G ??. It's very easy to get confused). So this task belongs to the above number ... 4 ?

The task starting with "h1" in the (long) name, belongs to Grav. Wave O2 multi-directional, and it's run by the GPU. So this would be linked to the above number ... 9??

THANK you! :)

Sidenote: i am getting only these 2 types of tasks. Why? Is there no data for the other 7 types, or what is happening? Thank you.
