It wouldn't affect the log much, (It will give you a resetting project message, and showing that new work is being downloaded) but it will affect your stats if you reset and you have completed WUs you haven't reported yet. You would definitely want to report any completed work before you reset.
It won't actually take anything away from your stats, but if you don't return the completed work, you will never get credit for those WUs even though you completed them.
