Hi Fal Hartmut, welcome to the EAH message boards.

I see you have been crunching for a while although this is your first post. We hope you continue to contribute, both to the science and to the message boards.

The credit system is a cunning ploy to keep people motivated. There is nothing like appealing to the competitive streak in all of us to keep us working hard. Also it is fun and quite addictive to watch your score climb and to try to reach your next "target" whatever that might be. There are quite a few good stats sites that you can look through. Here is just one showing some interesting graphs of the progress of EAH since the doors were opened back in February. There are other sites that really go into detail on individual performance. This link shows a view of your personal EAH stats for example. There are others that allow you to create BOINC Stats counters suitable for signature graphics for example. I've just scratched the surface with these links. Please have fun exploring for yourself.

The other thing credits are good for is "buying" the various "products" available in the growing number of Cafes associated with BOINC projects :). If you like a wild ride then Cafe Einstein is probably a bit staid - some might say boring :) - but the product is digestable and wont send you to hospital with food poisoning :). Also, you wont get mugged when you first enter the place :).

Anyway, have fun exploring and please let us know how you get on :).

PS: If there are technical things that you need an explanation for, once you start looking in detail, ask away over on the "Getting started" or "Problems" boards where there are volunteers waiting to offer assistance. Come and assist yourself - you would be most welcome.

PPS: One other thing to try out. Go here and type the word "credit" into the google search box. How much detail would you like :).

Cheers,
Gary.
