Web preferences: O3ASE missing, linked to FGRPB1G

I have machines (Windows, NVidia + iGPU) on the 'School' venue. The FGRPB1G application type was disabled following the change to a new work type.

Turns out, that stopped me getting O3ASE for NVidia. Allowing FGRPB1G allowed O3ASE as well.

It would be better to hook O3ASE up to O2MDF, if you don't want to create a new independent preference.

Allowing BRP tasks on an AMD or Intel pc also works to get O3ASE tasks.

I agree i'm hoping they just add another line in the list of types of tasks and we can straight-up choose to run O3ASE tasks or not.

Yes, we can do all that out

Yes, we can do all that out here in the field, but I'd prefer the actions to do what they say on the label, for the sake of everyone else.

If nobody from the project has noticed this thread in, say, 24 hours, I'll start dropping a few PMs. Oliver first, I think, and then Bernd.

My guess is that once these

My guess is that once these are out of Beta, they will open up a new line item, or modify the O2MD line to reflect O3AS. It seems that the "E" appended to these tasks is representative of their "Engineering" (or beta) status. The app selection list is a reflection of production work, and you have to opt-in to beta work. I think that makes sense.

I've been opted into Beta

I've been opted into Beta since BRP4 was installed as Beta on 20 Feb 2015. Doesn't explain why O3ASE has been hooked up to something, but not another GW app.

so is your only qualm that

so is your only qualm that you do not want to have to check the "Allow non-preferred apps" button? give the configurations that yourself, Mikey, and myself have posted. it seems that you just need to have any GPU app selected and it's not tied to either of them specifically, but with no GPU app selected, the project assumes you dont want anything perhaps?. Mikey and I have just selected apps which don't have current work, so it fails over to O3ASE.

ooOOOoooh> that explains a lot. I have dozens of pages of O3ASE tasks in my task file, new, I have never seen in the BOINC manager till I looked in my results.

Work runs fine on Bosons reacted into Fermions,

I was wondering whether it was just me. For a while now, I've had only the O3AS Engineering application ticked and also 'allow non-preferred apps', but for the past couple of days have gotten only GRP tasks.  All last week I was getting maybe one O3ASE task per day with GRP filling in.

Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.
