Stay warm, do you put a tarp or something over your windshield to keep the ice off of it? I don't but with the remote start can afford to wait for it to clear itself off the few times i need to go out on the VERY few days it gets that cold around here.
Taxi time can be bonding and fueling the mind hopefully you guys are good.
When the power flickers around here I let my pc's stay off as well just in case it happens again and again like the last time when they were swapping something out and it went out about 4 times in half an hour.
Do you have a wood/pellet stove or a fireplace to keep you warm? I have gas logs that I use to keep the heatpump from running when it's below about 50F. I have about a 2000sqft home not counting the garage of course.
No I don't. I do have a natural gas fired furnace. Two 1600 watt electric heaters (the ends of my Mobile Home get cooler than the middle. And 4 Boinc systems (gpus that throw heat in 3 of them) generating waste heat from my hobby.

From the European, especially the German perspective, natural gas is an evil geostrategic weapon. And when governments are stupid enough to ignore this fact despite repeated friendly admonitions, it suddenly becomes a very expensive heating source for millions of households without alternative. It's a good thing that the European winter has only had two cold weeks so far. Let's see how next winter will be... fingers crossed. Anyone who lives here in the countryside, in suburbia, in an own house, with a stove or fireplace... they sourced wood from everywhere in the forests (legally, illegally, not giving a damn) before this winter... to save precious cubic meters of natural gas... and to survive the shock when reading the next nat. gas bill. Prices have tripled or quadrupled for private households. Some former extra-cheap tariffs increased prices 10-fold. But governments spent billions on price caps, subsidies... Nobody will freeze at home.. cost burden for companies, industry...

The cities power plant is municipally owned and runs some large and efficient nat gas fired diesel engines. Heating prices (€ per kWh) haven't increased so far. The power plant's operator bought gas volumes years in advance. Prices will increase to higher levels for years to come. But until now, nobody knows how expensive it will get.

But, I can sympathize with you, Scrooge McDuck, tremendously. I'm quite sure that you are well aware of the price gouging that Russia (and Putin!) has put on Europe as a whole, but Germany in particular.

I stayed in a timeshare for 90 days after I sold my home while they were building my new one and EVERYTHING was included as well. I bought several Raspberry Pi's, they were MUCH cheaper then, and rocked a bunch of Einstein tasks with Keith Myers help in setting them up. I had 3 desktop as well but had to spread them out so I didn't pop any circuits. After that I had to rent a condo for 9 months and nothing was included except the first $100 on the electric bill. The owner was NOT happy my bill was more than that and told me no one had EVER gone over the $100 mark before, I told him I would pay any overage and we were good. He sent me a bill every month and we included it in the rent.

So my natural gas supplier no longer can buy and store cheap excess gas in the summer months. Now they have to buy spot price gas for delivery in the winter. Sucks to be in LA
