Why does Boinc (or maybe E@H?) require both an upload and then a subsequent communication with the server to update account/credit info.? Thanks.

Upload Query

For each workunit the data is sent to the data server and then later reported to the scheduling server. I assume this is what you are reffering to. It was done this way so that scheduler RPCs could be combined and thus reduce the load on the scheduling server. In theory the scheduling server is the worst bottleneck in any BOINC based project, all of the other backend components can be split off to different or even multiple machines.
