According to most definitions, Nationalism is the belief that a nation will benefit from acting alone rather than collectively. Tribalism is the feeling of identity with and loyalty to one's tribe.
So it certainly is what DB said.

One more question and using that definition ... can Nationalism cause wars???

Ask the Serbs...but you can also throw in religion there as well when it came to Bosnia (ethnic cleansing)...

Yes it does, which brings to mind the saying, "God protect me from your followers!"

I guess that we are more civilized over here...most of the fruit loops, Klansmen, reactionaries, and control freaks are over there...

If you took wars based in religion either directly or indirectly over the last 2,000 years...the deaths would be measured in the hundreds of millions. Some people just can't bring themselves to acknowledge that...something like Holocaust denial.

Plus sad attention seekers, those without real-life friends etc etc. Point is they are there because they know that most of the time they can get away with it. Although the moderation at SETI has tightened up in the last 6 months, every other board is at least 10 times stricter.

Not many would disagree, but to me it's like saying that maths is the reason why I got a bad grade in algebra... :)
