Hi there, I am often on a business trip and there I am using my umts flatrate to use the internet. From my point of view it should not have any influence on the performance of the tasks I am working on as the volume of data which is exchanged is quite small.
Does anybody have any experience with umts already?

Indeed, the kind of internet connection should not have an influence on performance. What might make a difference is whether you run your notebook on batteries or not during a business trip (you can even configure BOINC to not run at all when the PC is run on batteries). Depending on the configuration of your notebook, it might run on slower CPU clock rates to conserve energy.
