I am setting-up my Mum's new, laptop. As it has a cuda supported GPU (9500 NVIDIA laptop) I tried this. But it is only being allowed two units per day. Why does it not resort to usual cpu units if no cuda are available? Used latest BONIC and einstein cuda set from site. I get more processing with just CPU, I know it is early days but seems a bit mangled, just trying to process units for Einstein@Home.
I believe in Penrose-Witten string theory in twistor space;-)

two cuda downloads and that's it.

This computer has had a lot of download errors on einstein_S5R5_3.05_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe, which has reduced the Maximum daily WU quota per CPU to 1/day.

Sorry it was not very easy to setup. I presume cuda and cpu will be combined. I have set the machine to do Boinic work provided it is not on batteries. You could trust me now it is going and remove the restriction. My Mother is not technical enough to cause any more mayhem:-)

Do you need to setup two Boinc Managers one for cuda and one for cpu, or does the former also support cpu processing?
RE: Do you need to setup

As long as you have 6.4 (?? - maybe 6.5) or above, then CUDA should work out of the box.

You only need patience :-)
You have two tasks downloaded on 4 Oct 2009 0:16:06 UTC (if the link I gave is correct), one for each CPU. If they finish succesfully, your quota will be doubled.

[edit]I think the Einstein server doesn't account for CUDA yet, but only with regard to the quota.[/edit]

Sure but does work run on the cpu as well? Or do I need another instance of boinic manager?
Opening another BOINC Manager
)
Opening another BOINC Manager will only make sure you have two GUIs showing the same information. The client can only be started once.
The client you're using (6.6.38) has separate built-in schedulers for CPU and GPU. As long as you have work for both CPU and GPU and you've set your project preferences to use the GPU, BOINC should reasonably run the work on both the CPU and the GPU at the same time.
Seeing you have Vista though, I hope you didn't install BOINC in protected application execution mode (as a Windows service) as then the GPU detection will not work. A quirky little thing caused by Windows itself.

My Mum i to mean to run boinic, she even switches he video off. I got m IQ from my dad!

???
You don't need the display to have BOINC running.
