Topic 223126

Rules is Rules (lifted from Mike Hewson and CECHT):

1. Winner of the last thread starts the new one with a post of these rules.

2. Chooses a future event which triggers the winner, e.g. post number, date-time, and records it privately somehow (yellow sticky, etc.)

3. Everyone has fun posting until the target event is reached.

4. When the target is reached, old winner posts declaration of new winner and also PMs them.

5. Shortly after this a Mod will lock the recently won thread.

6. No double posts. Violator buys a round for the house in The SETI Refugee Pub.

7. Additional rule -- No posts that APPEAR to be blank - these will be ignored or deleted. (Sig lines do not count as part of a post.)

Addendum: Rule 6a. The forum host cannot declare themselves a winner and therefore may post as many times in succession as necessary to cajole, bully, entice, persuade, encourage, shame, browbeat, trick, or inveigle others to participate.

We made it thru huuricane

We made it thru huuricane Isaius(sp) that made landfall in our town but fortunately it was only a low category 1 storm, 85 mph winds, so mostly wind damage for the 'island' folks and none for those off the island except those areas that often flood in a decent rain storm. We did not even lose power!!! They did have 5 house fires on the island during the storm but non of the homes, all rental properties, were occupied, they are thinking electrical problems from poor maintenance due to no homeowner looking at things all the time. All new homes, which mine is, are required to be built to withstand at Category 3 storm, around 135 mph winds, so no problems, a couple of my homeowners saw some siding oming off on the still unfinished homes but they will fix that today as the temps are back into the low 90'sF and it very bright and Sunny.

Laura is set to blow through

Laura is set to blow through TX/LA shortly.

A lady we know from when we lived there in the 80s/90s called us to say she has been evacuated to San Antonio.

The wife and I were talking today we would NOT stay for a storm like that either!!! The storm that hit North Carolina went right over our home as a category 1 and did zero damage to our neighborhood but lots of damage to the older neighborhoods around us, I can't imagine how bad a category 4 will be!!!

Stay safe!!!
