I just signed up and set my preferences. I wanted to have the program run between 10PM and midnight. I entered run between 2200 to 0000. The program started right away. I live on the west coast of the US. What should I set the preferences to to get the program to run only during these hours?

Thanks

I figured out what I did wrong. I did an update and now my preferences are recognized.

Thanks again

Hi Dewey, welcome to the project.

I'm glad you got your preferences setting sorted out. Unfortunately, you need to be aware that EAH WUs take a *lot* of crunching so if you can only give 2 hours per day you will not make the deadline and your efforts will be wasted. At a guess, your machine will take somewhere between 25 - 50 hours to complete a result and as the deadline is 14 days you are unlikely to get it done at just 2 hours per day. Perhaps you should consider a project with much shorter WUs.

Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Gary I am running the

Hi Gary

I am running the World Community Grid on my machine also. There is no time limit on running there WUs, so I was not aware there was here. Also I didn't know if I could run BOINC and them at the same time. I found out that you can and have increased the time to 4 hours per day. I would still run short of completing the WU, which is almost 65 hours, but I plan on running extra time on the weekends to complete the WU before the deadline.

Another concern that I had was the temperature of my machine while running the WU. I have been watching it and have so far seen no high numbers.

Also I plan on setting up a home network and adding an older computer that I have setting around. If all goes as planned, I will dedicate the old computer to running BOINC and World Community Grid.

Being new here, there is a period of adjusting to the system.

Thanks for your reply,
Dewey
