It turns out Cats are a very popular topic.
In another (formerly technical) thread it has taken over completely.
My cat is a black and white female. Fixed. And young enough she gets quite grumpy (howling) if I don't play with her.

Sounds like a nice lady, Tom! My cat, Billy the Cat, has blown out the candle last year and will be sorely missed. He was white with patches of red breaking through and always wanted to play as well. If I ignored him for too long, he started throwing stuff from bookshelves or my desk. One time he climbed on the dresser and knocked out a little plastic cap that closed the hole where a light could be fitted. He very much reminded me of the old guy in Kill Bill then, so I took a picture and turned it into a bit of a meme:

It's been a year since we adopted two adult cats, brother and sister. They are Russian Blue. Art communicates his wants with his teeth; a gentle gnaw to let you know, progressively harder chomps when ignored. Gwen communicates with her hiss; she's not angry, just easily annoyed, so I can relate. These behaviours sound much worse than they are because both are sweet creatures. Unlike all our previous cats, these two do not use their claws, on us at least, so that's a plus. Gwen follows my wife around, Art follows me. We adopted them because they were about to be sent to a shelter and because we needed a distraction from our grief over having to put down two dear cats on the same day.
Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

Nice, glad you found happiness with this new couple. Russian Blue are beautiful cats. My aunt and uncle used to have one who was blind in one eye which had gone milky white. Not sure if it was because of that, but they lived in this L-shaped building and one day he decided he could jump from one open window to another in the adjacent wall. It was a good few meters so he never made it and dropped 2 stories down. He survived that but did break his jaw and had this crooked grin ever since to go with that bad eye. So we lovingly called him pirate after that.

That's a coincidence. I adopted a new Russian Blue about a year ago. My previous cat (Siamese) passed due to complications from diabetes, and I wanted a new buddy. Here's a pic from when I first got him home. He's quite intelligent and cunning.
