I am running a gamma ray pulsar search task and it arrived at 99.038%. Boinc gives an estimated remaining time, this elapses but the task remains at 99.038%. I closed BOINC and restarted it, the remaining time was reset, but still this passed and it remained at 99.038%. I am so close, this task has been running for 17 hours and I am getting very annoyed now.

Task stuck at 99.038%
)
See the following threads for an explanation of why the tasks seems to be stuck:
Workunit Stalled Near Completion
Fermi LAT Gamma-ray pulsar search #3 "FGRP3" This is the announcement post from Bernd when the run was first started, especially read the part about "improved coherent (follow-up) stage" and that there is no checkpoints saved at the last part of the tasks. There's also a follow up post later in the thread that talks about reserving the last 1% completion for this stage.
To summarize, the last stage of processing takes a variable amount of time that is not known before that stage is reached. No checkpoints are saved when doing this part of the processing so if the app is interrupted during this stage it will have to start over with it.
Just let it run and it should finish normally in something between 30 min to several hours. If it hasn't completed within a couple of days of uninterrupted processing then maybe something is wrong.
Edit: If you don't like this I suggest that you review the Einstein@home preferences and opt out of running the Gamma-ray pulsar search #3.

Thanks so far it has been running for 2 hours or more at 99.038% but nothing happened. I will see how it goes and maybe yes consider opting out

Which host is this on? Is it on this account? (the Ramon Mangion one) According to your Computers belonging to Ramon Mangion page you're had three computers attached here, one from 2008, one from 2007,
the most recent one hasn't contacted the server in the last four weeks, and the server no longer has any tasks shown against it, it looks as if your task is past deadline, and you're wasting your time trying to complete it as it is no longer in the database,
If your computer isn't on for long enough to complete gamma ray pulsar search tasks within deadline you'll need to chose a type of work that completes more quickly.

The problem is that there are two Ramon Mangions. He is posting as the old one (ID 250062) but his current computer is listed under the new one (ID 585372). He registered for the second time on 5th March 2012 and this is his current computer.
He started getting tasks on 16th Feb and the FGRP3 task has been completed and validated. It took ~65Ksecs, just over 18 hours, so not too bad really, for an old 1.8GHz core 2 duo.
Cheers,
Gary.
