Topic 188947

I'm a new user. I have a Windows, Intel Celeron 560-650 mhz, 62-64 mb RAM desktop. I am trying to run Einstein and SETI, currently. My computer has about 4.6 GB of hard drive space but am restricting use of 3 GB for BOINC. System resources are shared between the projects equally.

Every time the projects connect to the servers, they end up with a message that says that there was work but your computer does not have enough memory...what?!

Help, please? and should I be running only one project at a time and using that thread add-on so my computer doesn't overheat or something?

System Requirements/No work???

Looking to one of the FAQ's you need at least 70MB of RAM to run E@H.

The good news is that memory

The good news is that memory is cheap these days

you should be able to upgrade for very little money
Google the stats of your machine or contact the manufacturer

-------------------------------------------------------
(manufacturer would be the most expensive but requires no technical knowledge If you know enough to locate correct type of memory and can install it yourself you can save significantly.... even so much you could likely self install twice what factory would give for same money)
-------------------------------------------------------

even if you don't know the difference between DDR and SDR ram... self install is usually very easy..... as long as you get the correct ram card for your machine you should be all right (you may also need new switch settings so your older machine knows you have more memory but the ram manufacturer will likely supply needed settings with the card or through support phone since cards tend to fit similar motherboards)

My question, which will likely be echoed by you after you upgrade, is HOW DO YOU MAKE DO WITH SO LITTLE MEMORY? ;->
