I'm curious as to how many combine TThrottle and SpeedFan to get the most while controlling temps.
I built a box a few years ago when notebook/laptop speeds were not fast enough and portability was a major factor. I chose a Thermaltake LANbox Lite case, with a Pelican case for travel, for a variety of reasons. That case is not renowned for cooling/airflow. Surprisingly, during the cooler months, the stock cooler managed to handle a Phenom II X4 945 running at 100%/24/7 at stock 3.0 GHz. Not the quietest, but bearable, considering the other sources of noise in the room.
However, as we started to have warmer days, and TThrottle was kicking in more than I liked, this weekend I decided to switch out the stock cooler that came with the 945 with a spare that I had which was included with a 965BE. I'd installed an aftermarket cooler on that 965, and so the spare had never been used. Considering that the 965 has a 125W TDP, I figured it would do a better job than the original stock on this 95W 945. I even decided to go with the pre-applied thermal compound just to see how it would do. It dropped the peak temp 10C!
However, at 100% load, the fan went nuts, ramping to near 5000RPM and becoming more than just audible. It is notable that, on first boot, a BIOS POST message said that I had installed a new processor, despite it being only a heatsink change, and then Win7 prompted a reboot.
So I loaded up SpeedFan, previously used to monitor temps before I "discovered" HWMonitor. I set it up to run at minimum 10% PWM and max temp 54C, and it bounces between 10% and 35% PWM. At this rate, it is much quieter than the cooler on it before, and is running around about 5C cooler full load. TThrottle is set to throttle at 55C and is so far staying out of the equation.
It will be interesting to see how this performs once we have a few warm days. During the day, when no one is home, the central cooling is programmed for 79F/26C, so ambient around these computers can reach 85F/29C.
I am leaving TThrottle running until I see that this cooler can handle warmer days (it's only reached 44F/6.7C so far today, so around 72F/22C ambient).

Not here. I never looked at Speedfan. I use SIV to control the GPU temp since they are the ones that produce the most heat. Have their operating point at 65C. I just let the CPUs float to whatever temp they want since they are water-cooled. Never exceed 57C with six cores running out of eight doing tasks. The two free cores feed the GPUs. I only run the systems during daylight hours except for winter when they provide the heating for the house. The other times of the year are too hot and would require too much A/C for when the solar array stops producing enough power to cover the running of the crunchers. My RAC drops like a stone but I refuse to run the A/C full time to erase the heat load of the crunchers. The sound of the fans don't bother me since I wear ear plugs to bed for sleep during the winter.

I used Speedfan for years, not for control, but for monitoring. I've given up on it sometime in the last year or two. I don't remember my specific complaint, but it was something that seemed serious to me.
I continue to use TThrottle, though I am not currently actively throttling anything, as the hotter season approaches I expect to resume throttling soon.
I control the fans with another application, generally with the goal of keeping them at a constant speed in my range of normal operation, as this stiffens the response characteristic TThrottle sees, which is favorable to my load-shifting purpose.

Just installed 7.30 version on WinXP computer...and it gives be BSOD with error on cputemperature.sys file...any clue about it?
Does anybody have similar problem? ;)

I've only used TThrottle since my PC's were migrated to Win7, so I cannot speak to how it behaves on XP. I did a quick Google, with a variety of search terms, and didn't find anything specific to TThrottle and XP. I did find more than one mention of cputemperature.sys, and .sys files in general, misbehaving when there was an "unexpected" change in hardware and/or associated drivers. Also, found that corruption of the install package/files could cause this problem with a .sys file.

TThrottle needs a CPU with internal sensor...so that is P4 of newer processor! ;)
The strange thing is: when I put TThrottle into action on all my laptops...my grid boosted from 107 to 109Gflops! Nice... ;)
