    Can BOINC add a "task" in the manager (similar to "Suspend Project) that will finish the work already downloaded but will not download any new work. This will allow the graceful extraction from the project (or to stop the work so that I can load the Beta program without a server error).

      Already there in the newer versions of BOINC.

        There is one in the most recent versions (4.45 and later) labeled No new work on the projects tab that does what you want.
