For the first time I am getting "client errors". Today I had 11 work units in a row report client errors, then it was back to normal with normal processing. Does anyone have any ideas what may have caused this and has anyone else experienced this?

Strange happenings?

Looks like it's a memory issue.

I'm seeing three errors (I didn't go down the entire list). One is an unhandled exception/access violation. A couple are showing out of memory. And at least one is showing that the page file is too small.

Were you running anything memory intensive at the same time?

It's hard to image your machine being "out of memory". I run E@H on a machine with only 512 MB of RAM.

Have you tried a good old fashioned reboot (yeah yeah yeah... I know... standard Windows trouble shooting)?

This machine is a dual core

This machine is a dual core with 1 gig memory and does nothing except crunch work units. True it hasn't been rebooted since the last lightning storm a couple of days ago. It did start re-processing after those 11 work units showed a computer error. Right now it has over a quarter of a gig available memory. Like the title says this is strange?

I have been having problems

I have been having problems w/ my home computer as well. All the downloads today had checksum errors. It looks like I must have hit my workunit limit since it stopped trying to download. (At work atm)

I seem to have narrowed it

I seem to have narrowed it down to my new CA Security Center Firewall. When I completely disable the firewall everything works fine. Turn it back on and the checksum errors start again across all three projects I am attached to. Anyone have any ideas on what setting(s) I need to change to get this to work?

Thanks

Try these...

Ports for BOINC.

80 (http for server communication)
443 (https for server communication)
31416 (loopback address for manager - client communication)

BOINC.exe needs 31416 and 80 and 443 opened
BOINCmgr.exe needs 31416 opened
BOINC.scr needs 31416 opened

Thanks for your help but I'm having great difficulty figuring out how to get these set in the firewall. This product doesn't seem to be too user friendly. :( Also, I can't even find a file called BOINC.scr.

boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe

boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe live in the boinc directory, c:\\program files\\boinc by default. boinc.scr (at least on my vista computer) lives in c:\\windows.

I don't know anything about that particular firewall. Sorry.
