.... being a launch for the Office Of Secret Squirrels then all we know of the destination is that it went up into the sky. :-)

Cheers, Mike.

With all that boost going on that must be one heavy, full of stuff satellite!! I think the news said the NRO, National Reconnaissance Office, sent it up to spy on something or someone or other. In todays World it's kind of hard to hide a launch but what's in it can still be hidden from us normal folks, but I'm guessing those people or Countries that really WANT to know have a good idea what it's doing and why.

I got tied up with stuff and forgot about the launch until the windows started to rattle and the roof began to hum. By that time its too late. It is already well down range.

It clearly got there.
Might have been a hard landing.
Maybe to the degree of kaboom.

It wasn't maneuvering

It wasn't maneuvering correctly up high .... that's why they cut the feed.

Oops. Lost track of time and

Oops. Lost track of time and was out mowing the grass at launch time. Just watched the feed. They had a new camera angle from inside the 1st stage showing 1st/2nd stage separation. I thought that was pretty interesting. Last launch we were all saying "how easy this has become". It good to get a wake up call now and then. After all this "is rocket science".

Some quotes from Elon Musk on

Some quotes from Elon Musk on Twitter, in order posted:

"Ascent phase & satellites look good, but booster rocket had a RUD on droneship"

"Looks like thrust was low on 1 of 3 landing engines. High g landings v sensitive to all engines operating at max."

"RUD = Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly :)"

"Upgrades underway to enable rocket to compensate for a thrust shortfall on one of the three landing engines. Probably get there end of year."

"Landing video will be posted when we gain access to cameras on the droneship later today. Maybe hardest impact to date. Droneship still ok."

That last seems puzzling, as one impact put a good size hole in the drone ship, and we all saw what appeared to be a stationery stage standing momentarily on the surface of the barge before the video cut out.

if impact was "hard enough"

if impact was "hard enough" maybe one of the landing pads punctured the drone ship's deck causing the rocket to "fall over". just guessing. To me it looked like a good landing with lots of smoke obscuring the rocket but after a few seconds of waiting for it to clear the video broadcast ended.
