Just ran across an paper discussing how to use gravity wave detection to perform SETI searches.

The first question(s) are

  1. Exactly what kind of data analysis do we need?
  2. Are the current data structures of e@h usable for this? Or is a major transform/restructuring needed?
  3. Can the tasks be broken up to be run in parallel?
  4. Will we need the power of a Atlas or higher computer for the final data analysis step?

#4 was an issue at seti@home. It could very well be an issue with trying to use gravitational wave data too.

Following the trail of links

Following the trail of links it seems they are searching for 'warp drives' ie. some technology that can accelerate Jupiter size masses about the place with enough gusto to produce detectable gravity waves. The trouble I think will be disambiguating that from more ordinary/natural ways of throwing Jupiters around*.

Cheers, Mike.
