I have a question for the UK citizens. Why won't the BBC allow BBC-America to show full seasons, (up to present), of Sherlock??? Here, in the US, BBC-A has only shown three episodes of Season 1. Then, the re-aired those same episodes; but, refuse to air the full first season. I saw the three episodes that they did air, and I'M HOOKED!!!!! I want MORE!!!!! I know that I'm not alone on this.

I think they are on NetFlix.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! :-(

I don't have a Netflix account... :-(

My parents have an Amazon Prime account; and, we stream movies and TV shows from that. If Netflix has it; then, Amazon Prime most likely won't... :-(

<----- Bummed, now... :-(

YEAAAAHHHH!!!!! :-)

I was wrong!!! Amazon sells Sherlock on DVD and Blu-Ray; AND, airs the show on Amazon Prime. However; if ordering on Prime to stream, it costs about $13 to view the entire first season. (Even though my mom pays for Prime; certain movies and TV shows are still on a separate pay basis.)

I might be able to get the streaming privileges in July for Season 1, and then later, (maybe August), stream Season 2.

If I had more expendable income, I'd buy the seasons on Blu-Ray. Oh well, someday...

Phil's back from Engine Skool

Phil's back from Engine Skool ! Welcome home. You were missed - mainly because you were not around to hit. :-)

As for my age, well I've definitely peaked. I'm in the involution phase now. I compensate by comparing myself to fresh meat.

Anyhows : how did your Skool of Toot Toot go ? Did you find the right bells, whistles and levers ? What was the final death count ( the only good trainspotter is a dead one, right ? ) ? Can you in fact stop a Runaway Train :

@TimeLord : several leading ISPs in Orstralia have recently added downloadable streaming content to their repertoires. The content is regionalised rather like the DVD regions that were attempted ( and subverted ) a while ago. So when content is bought by some distributor it typically has a contractual attachment to it of the form 'only to be downloaded to such-and-such countries'. The reason is simple : one can make more money that way. While you the consumer may/not pay the same regardless of source location, the originators of content can multiply their fees to the distributors with the regional gag. It is fundamentally no more complicated than that. Selling the same cow several times over ..... some counter by saying that is a transaction b/w supplier and distributor and no concern of the consumer ie. one would have to pay the 'region fee' one way or the other. Except of course if it generates a cartel with regional monopolies. Naturally the music and movie industry would never leverage that possibility. They are nice people with good motives* eg. SONY is the pinnacle of socially responsible corporate practice, ranking with banks & stock exchanges in that regard :

Up until around two months ago it was possible DownUnda to use a tunneling service ( VPN proxy to the UK for instance ) to gather up overseas content by pretending not to reside in Orstralia. But they've worked around that hack alas.

Indeed. There are BP machines and then there are tourniquets.

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) Side Note : in its most recent budget our esteemed Federal Government has extended our 10% Goods & Services Tax to whatever-I-ordered-over-the-internet. What was a relatively minor trickle of money is now a rapidly growing market area and thus deemed as deserving of taxation. So it is likely that say, NetFlix will be subject to that.

Aw shucks. The good vibes from Down Unda bring a tear to me eye.

My magnetic personality crashed the simulator so bad the instructor could not fix it. Alas, for the first sim test I had to accept the score from my practice run the day before, Grrr.

My biggest accomplishment is that I can now stay awake while reading the rule book, at least long enough to find a rule or two...

The final death count is classified in the interest of preventing a national furor. It's only because there is a confusing array of bells, whistles, and levers. The only one I actually remember had a piece of tape on it with "Warp Speed" written on it, and dangit where's the stupid brake pedal?

Laters all!

Phil

That would be allergic conjunctivitis no doubt.

Impressive. My version of Trainz : A New Error won't do that.

Are you past the preamble section ? Normally that's where all the really important stuff is. Like the definitions of 'stop', 'go', 'wait', 'give way', 'run rampant' and 'day of vengeance' etc.

Aha! That explains all those lights in the sky over my house a few weeks ago. I thought it was a UFO but it was actually our Phil all along .... :-) :-)

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) I beg forgiveness. Apart from the impressive Jon Voigt as above, our nations have been well served by the care, diligence and good conduct of their railroad employees. My sincere apologies for any distress caused by my ill-advised & shameful commentary.

Nah. That's the advanced training. We're still at "yer probably gonna die so run like hell!!" part.

Dangit. I told them to replace that muffler. It's so hard to find good help these days.

I remember that movie, lol. Cheese...lots of cheese... but Rebecca is easy on the eyes.

I too remember the movie well. It was halfway through my intern year. I was semi-psychotic from sleep deprivation, the stress of making life and death decisions without actually knowing anything, and the general fug that afflicts hospital resident doctors. But my wife and I wanted to grasp a normal social outing for at least one evening since our wedding day ( the previous double solar eclipse* ). So we went and saw Runaway Train. It wasn't relaxing. On the upside I realised there were worse things in the world than mere lack of sleep ie. you could be not sleeping AND watching Runaway Train.

An orange glow you say. I'll keep an eye out over the southern hemisphere. Best of luck ! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

* This is a simultaneous lunar and solar eclipse. It doesn't occur in this universe. You have to be really out of your mind to see one of these. :-) :-) :-)
