Did you live near Wheaton by chance?

Yes, pretty close actually.  I moved to IL in '68 (with my parents) to Lisle.  When My parents moved to MA in '73 I stayed behind.  My first apt. was in Wheaton.  Over the years I lived all over DuPage, even had a Townhouse for 10 yrs in Glen Ellyn, right next door to Wheaton.  Why do you ask?

I do genealogy and my grandmothers grandfather was born in Wheaton and was in the Civil War, they called him Capt when the war was over but he was a Sergeant during the war. He wrote a hundred plus page double spaced paper on his time in the war because his kids kept asking him about his time during the War, and then never spoke about it again. His family name is Smith and they came from New Hampshire and Ireland before that but that's where the trail ends as all they have is a name and that he came from Ireland. I'm never going to find the RIGHT Thomas Smith in the early 1700's that came from Ireland.

I have a picture from the 1890's of him holding my grandmother in his arms.

And it's good that you and your youngest son talk often.  I was worried.

Another Church Friend has

Another Church Friend has died.

Daniel Bontempo was one of my favorite Geeks at my Church.

Then he had to move away to a Research job in Texas.

Like grass they go down before us.

:(

The senior master/teacher at

The senior master/teacher at my secondary school has passed away recently. When I was young lad he was like a god that strode the Earth, when I was a young man he was a great guy to be around, in my middle age he was a terrific community leader. Very wise, quite caring and suffered no foolishness. But even he became old and frail. You see  .....  even the gods pass on.

Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
