Yes moonshine is good, but I was making reference to the bad alcohol that is being passed off in some mexico and now Dominican Republic hotels as safe alcohol. As we all know bad alcohol can cause blindness or death. So poor attempt in my case to make that reference. We have several bars here that server variety of different moonshines.
Yes, shine from someone who doesn't know how to make it or care how it is made is death in a bottle. Even those who know how to make it but end up using makeshift equipment can kill or injure, such as lead contamination.

I went to Curacao and friends who live there told me to stay away from the alcohol in the bottles at the bars, they said even bottles you see them open have often been refilled and resealed with locally brewed stuff. They said that EVEN the bigger hotels do it but the Management is not always in on the scam, it's the bar managers who are doing it. They said the beer though is okay as the profit is so low it isn't worth doing the same thing too. They said the only sure way to know is to bring the bottles of alcohol into the Country yourself. I asked about the liquor stores and they said 'there's no way to know for sure' so they don't. We drank ALOT of beer in the 10 days we were there!! There are some good local bars who brew their own beer that's VERY good!!
