I was curious as to which science magazine most people like the best..
For the past year I've had a subscription to New Scientist, which is interesting, but I had trouble keeping up with a weekly magazine! I've got piles of issues I haven't even gotten too!
So I was looking for an alternative to try out....thinking of giving Scientific American a try...or perhaps Popular Science, both are monthly which should be better.
Any other advice or options?

Science Magazine discussion

I'm a long time reader of Scientific American (like since I was in high school... EEK!).
Personally I think it's one of the best. I used to subscribe to Discover. Now I just go to the library to read it.
You can check out some of the articles on the Sci Am website to get a feel for it.
I recently started a discussion over on the BOINC boards about one of the articles from last month.

I used to read the Astrophysical Journal in College many years ago(bought a used on Amazon.com to see if it still hurts my head to read LOL) I read Astronomy magazine mainly now since I'm into viewing the skies with my 10" scope

For a rounded balanced scientific information a layman can understand, I perfer Scientific Americian. It is not as an easy read as afar as other popular science magazines go. I have been reading it since high school and since when I can. I even built an argon gas laser from the amateur science articles when I was in high school.:-)

I have a subscription to SciAm Digital, which is a pretty good deal because it comes with access to their archives (for the last 10 years, IIRC). I've always enjoyed Popular Science (but don't have a subscription to it).
Thanks for the tips everyone!

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll have a go with Sci Amer....
Bertodell...I'm a fledgling amateur astromer myself....been going at it for a few years now, but got side tracked with getting married, and having a baby due in about 3 weeks.......
How often does Astronomy magazine kick out issues? Monthly? I read some of their forums quite a bit.....or used to...they seemed to have died off.....
I've subscribed to Sky and Telescope's NightSky magazine which I like quite a bit. It's relatively practical, but geared towards beginners. Bimonthly too, which is nice.
I've got a 6in Dob and have learned quite a bit......I do seem to have a problem being patient though and developing the necessary skills..........
Am interested in beginning astrophotography, with the Dob I'm limited, but did manage a sweet shot of the moon.
thinking of adapting the Dob tube to an Equatorial mount here sometime this fall hopefully....in the meantime I've stepped back to just playing with the camera and a tripod for night scene shots to practice.....need to learn how to stack images and what not........
Anyhoo......NightSky is cool, give it a shot if your not already beyond that level....I like to use it for a reference when giving neighbors and kids things to look at.

It's a monthly magazine, and the forum is still quite active(I participate in it as well with another forum at www.cloudynights.com) I'm eventually going to do astropicing with my 10" LX200 classic, and you are right you are limited with the Dobsonian for taking pictures :) I'll probably be taking pics of nebulas and galaxies(like the Ring nebula,M51,etc). I think Science better!
For its fine pictures!
(though I don't completely know the specialty words.)
And Newton Science World(published by Japanese)is pretty good, too.
It makes the different knowledge easier to understand.
