The upload server ran out of disk space late last week and now has a performance problem. You can follow the progress in the Technical News forum in the Uploads disabled thread.
You should also reduce your cache size, you returned a bunch of results "too late to validate".
As long as the third result of a workunit has not been sent out, you still have a chance that your result will be accepted, but as soon as the other two results have been returned and validated, your result is lost, even if it would have been valid.
Some of your "too late" results might have been caused by the upload server trouble, but a smaller cache will at least reduce that risk.
I don't think he had too large a work cache setting. There is a big gap in task download dates from 24th Dec to 4th Jan. Looks like he had his machine off for that full holiday period. The most recent results are well within the deadline. BOINC will now know that the machine isn't always on and will restrict new tasks accordingly.
