I recently picked up an RX580 to go along with a machine already running a Vega, and it hasn't been going well.  Tasks on RX580 run just fine at first, but after about 30mins the card goes to idle (300MHz Core) and the tasks just sit there. If I suspend the tasks and then resume them, they usually pickup where they left off without issue (occasionally they fail), go for another 30mins and it happens again. Temperatures are fine the whole time.  All the while the Vega continues to crunch as normal.

I've tried this on two machines, same problem on both. I also removed the Vega, ran the RX580 alone.  It worked fine with 1 task at a time, crunched over 24hrs straight. But with 2 tasks at a time it did the same thing again, going idle after about 30 mins.

Anyone have some suggestions?

Hi! I don't have a solution

Hi! I don't have a solution but what AMD GPU driver version is that computer currently loaded with?

Did the problem occur also if you run 1 task at a time on the RX580 while Vega was also installed and running along?

Hi Richie, I think I got it

Hi Richie, I think I got it working by completely wiping the previous drivers with "Display Driver Uninstaller".  Then I installed adrenalin drivers specifically for RX580, and set the RX580 to "Compute" in the radeon settings.  It seems to have both cards working now with 2 tasks each.

The problem did also occur while running 1 task on each with the previous drivers, it was bizarre.

Great to hear that! I've

Great to hear that! I've never monitored much the effect of that 'compute' option, but it shouldn't go wrong with that setting for sure.
