Have boinc task credits been recalibrated?

My two dedicated machines have been humming along for months since I last checked them. Both are cuda 1) GTX 660 and 2) 3xGTX 650. These four cards were delivering about 100,000 credits per day. They are now generating less then half that.

They both are headless and I just now used my droid tablet to check in. Each of them are up to date reporting. So I am curious.

Rumpelstiltskin - Credit Consternation.

To start with you machine with 3 650s is getting a lot of errors on GPU tasks, try to remedy that first. I would start by rebooting the machine (preferably turning it of and then on again) and if that doesn't help then a graphics driver update might be in order, do a clean install.

The above is probably the main reason why your totals have dropped but there have been other changes too, a new GPU app was released in the beginning of the year.
We can now run FGRP3 (Gamma-ray pulsar search) on our GPUs, the "problem" is that this app is still under development and only part of the computations are done on the GPU, the rest is done by the CPU. This leads to low GPU utilization and combined with not running other more efficient apps on the GPU means less credit.

For more details check out the announcement thread in the Tech news section.

If credits are important to you then go to your Einstein€home prefs page and change the "GPU utilization factor of FGRP apps" to -1 to not receive more of these tasks, if you want to experiment a bit the you could try to change it to 0.5 to run two of them together for better utilization of the GPU. Running more than x2 on my 660Ti causes screen lag so I opt x2.
