This is the cafe thread, and we don't have a politics one so without getting too serious.
So low population density farming districts had less strategic worth i.e. the people were expendable or sacrificial compared to city cousins. That's the theme as written on the dust jacket at least.
We are fully aware in the UK that if there is ever an unfolding 9/11 situation, then that aircraft will be downed in the suburban and rural areas before it gets near a big city. Damage limitation with human lives? Of course. What would you rather have, 100 dead or 1000 dead?

Chris maybe you should put a post in the wish list thread and ask them to put a politic's thread up seeing as so many seticizen are here doing Einstein as a back up till seti is fixed .
That is a good point Glenn,
That is a good point Glenn, but if the interest here wanes when Seti does come back, it will be a waste of time. Einstein has never yet found the need to have a politics board or forum, and I doubt they would do so just for a few passing by Setizens.

Oh dear. My apologies. An illustration of how cautious a moderator must be. My boner. It was a parenthetical reference to a reading plan of mine, certainly not an invitation to a political discussion of any variety.
Alas Chris in the generality : very, very few people can discuss political topics "without getting too serious" & thus will breach our guidelines quick slick, and so dooms any attempt from the get go.
I have just deleted the reference. The matter is now publicly closed for discussion, including any public consideration of E@H's moderation policy as is our usual practise. Kindly refer to the More info link that you see on the right when posts are edited, very specifically "don't discuss our moderation policy on the forums". Comments about said policy are dealt with by email as indicated.
Again I am at fault and ought have known better.
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
