How do I request new work? There doesn't appear to be any problems with the server or with any workload, but I don't know how to request more work.

When I request an update, it communicates with the server successfully, but it also says "not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks." The BOINC program manager is not periodically querying the server for more work on this program. So how do I manually request it?

My other computer seems to be working on it just fine.

Request new work

Do you run any other projects on that machine besides EAH?

If so, most likely what's going on is that BOINC has used some extra time on an EAH WU to make sure it made the deadline on time. As a result, it will work on the other project(s) for awhile to pay that time back and maintain the resource share you have set. When it figures it's close enough to the resource share again it will resume work on EAH.

If you don't run any other

If you don't run any other projects on that machine it could be one of two other things:

1. You have enough work at this moment in queue for Einstein to work on.
2. You have set Einstein to No New Tasks in the Projects tab in Boinc Manager.

You don't have to. BOINC does it for you. The only manual method is the "Update" button that you have already tried.

In addition to the valid points made by the other responders, I would ask if your question is perhaps more about increasing the amount of work being held locally on your machine (ie your cache size) rather than actually getting new work? Even if you have (or are about to) run out, there are many good reasons for BOINC to delay getting more work.

If your question is really about cache size and having more work in your cache, please let us know. With the much longer running S5R2 work units, you have to be particularly careful with the sizing of your cache, particularly if you are supporting other projects, or your machine is old and slow, or you don't run it 24/7, or your EAH resource share is on the low side.

Cheers,
Gary.
