No: I'd prefer to say

if there is no thread with the topic ur looking for, start one with a relevant title and say whatever you want to.

Posting your wisdom in a random thread will not help others with a similar interest to find it.

Long ramboling threads are fine in the Cafe, in a just-for-fun thread; they seriously impede the transfer of serious discussion. There is a place for both and the cafe is the place for random. You'll see my posts in the cafe, including a contrib to your post there: I enjoy a good rambol like most of us do. I uprated your posting there, but downrated this one.

Here is the place for on-topic discussion: each of us has freedom to start as many topics as we like, each thread headed with appropriate title for future reference.

I am sorry to sound so draconian Michael: your intention is to get more discussion going, and I support that intention completely. In my personal opinion the way you suggest is not so suitable for this board as it was for the cafe.

I do hope I haven't put you (or anyone else) off posting again, and look forward to seeing more from you on all these boards.

If I interpreted this article

If I interpreted this article correctly, education could be beneficial for your health! Or something to that effect...

Interesting, but how does the study account for less formal types of education? In other words, does the education I receive on the job also correlate to reduced the calcium in my arteries? In still other words, when does one stop being educated? Sometimes I wonder if there would also seem to be a correlation between studies like this, and automobile license plate numbers of cars that happened to be driving by during the study....

Yup, correlation is easy.
Just as easy as stating a correlation, and allowing a reader to conclude that a causal chain has been established, in fact.
In my experience I've seen alot of this sort of fluff toward end of financial year, probably related to funding re-application, so it clearly pays to look busy!
Get the spin doctors to whip some mixture up at their hypothecary......
Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
