I have been playing around with a test machine, TR-3960X, and when I started BOINC on it, it ran opencl apps on the GPUs. So far as I know, it was just like my other 2 machines I also run, which have always run the CUDA versions of available apps (from looking at the histories).  I fully expected it to run the CUDA versions of the MeerKat app, since the app list in Project prefs only allowed for Meerkat and the sadly defunct FGRBP1G, but instead it ran the opencl version of All Sky GW search.

In my setup, "general" includes all apps and "home" has only the 2 apps mentioned above, but I can't get it to run "home" for my project prefs. What should I be doing?

Thanks for helping!

A fix for the problem is at

A fix for the problem is at hand - I finally noticed that the location tab in the machine description was set to "generic" and when I shut down BOINC and changed it to "home" and restarted BOINC  the problem had been solved. Yay!
