Since early morning (MESZ) there are some problems to reach the Einsteinserver via BOINC-Manager. Up- and downloadproblems and the website was also temporally not aviable or v ery, very slow. Is there something wrong again?

Problems with the Server?

It would be nice to see some sort of mention on the home page of the resurfaced server problems -- offline for about 12 hours, then the home page up with 'database offline' then the server is up (but very slow -- like it was about 16 hours ago), then offline, and now back. Sort of makes one wonder just a bit....

Between the multiday outage

Message 92387 in response to message 92386

Between the multiday outage two weeks ago and the current multiday outage we are seeing at the moment, it has been rather a bad run for the project. Here is hoping they figure out the underlying problems to bring the project solidly online again.

Yes this is kind of "LHC"

Yes this is kind of "LHC" isn't it?

I did finally get several sent in from this machine just now after waiting a few minutes for this page to load.

I even "googled" this site last night and tried all the links and nothing worked.

But I have one machine just trying to send one in over and over since friday and after 100 tries it still sits there and now it just started saying it was "computation error" (just checked again and now it says ready to run even though it is finished)

I'm actually even running one of those 150 hour seti's on there right now so it is doing something......and I rarely do that.

Ok let me see if this will actually post now after my typing away here....

(it didn't load the post.....as I figured.....good thing I copied so I could paste it again

I had about a half dozen WU's

I had about a half dozen WU's download this morning, but they never posted in Boinc or here. I'm down to my last WU now, and it has about 7 hours left.

BTW, what Seti WU's run 150 hours. The longest WU I ever got from Seti expected to run 65-70 hours but usually runs just under 50 hours. That the AP WU.

That depends on your machine. On mine (the fast one :-), they take over 300 hours.

It has really been a case of

It has really been a case of Murphy's Law recently: whenever there was a problem, it happened on a weekend or over a holiday (in Germany, Easter means 4 days off, Good Friday until Easter Monday, so today was the first working day after Easter holiday in Germany).

Let's hope it's back to normal now.

BTW, whenever there is an outage in a BOINC project that will even disable the project homepage, a good place to look for news is this thread on the BOINC dev forum.

When I notice this project is down, I usually send the admins here an email with a polite request to give me some news when they have time for that and I always get a reply within 12 hours that I post in the "project outage" thread.

Hopefully this was the last outage for a while. Fingers crossed. :-)

It is one of the Seti astropulse v5 5.03 I decided to run on my old P4 2.5 when it couldn't get an Einstein (they take about 14hrs)

The Astropulse is the longer wu version (so far at 73% finished it has been 137 hours)

This is the only one I will do......but had to try one!

(Oh and thanks for that link Bikeman)
