I've only been doing E@H a bit over two months, and I have 200+ pending WU's. The oldest is 29 days.
A substantial segment of E@H users could be expected to be running fast,multi-core PC's 24/7.If some(and it needn't be too many)of them were willing,they could be designated "Backloggers" getting
only the oldest WU's that hadn't had enough results to be validated. This would relieve frustrations of users who hadn't been credited for their work,and benefit E@H by reducing the max time before any particular data set had been fully searched.

Possibly designated "Backloggers"?
)
Re-reading my first post,it seems as though I think someone else should be doing it.Not the case. I'd be glad to do it,and encourage a group to join me in doing it.
GPUgrid does a similar thing,

GPUgrid does a similar thing, where if they haven't heard back within a certain time frame they give it to what they designate as a "reliable" host. GPUgrid has very short (compared to other projects) time frames, so it would need to fit within E@H deadlines (3 weeks if I recall correctly).
Maybe when it does a resend it could do so with a shorter deadline than normal to these "reliable" hosts so that it clears any lingering work units up fairly quickly.

Just so long as the slower
)
Just so long as the slower hosts still get credit if they do hand in a WU on time, I don't think there should be any problem with sending out another WU past a certain cut-off time less than the deadline. As long as Einstein@Home's servers have the capacity to handle the increased load, I suppose.
@ Ver Greeneyes:It probably

@ Ver Greeneyes:It probably would put little or no extra load on the servers,since they have to resend most of these "orphan" units anyway.As long as a unit is returned within the time limit ,there's no reason "Backlogging" should have any effect on credits received.
@ Mark J: I think you said it better than I did. I just looked at my "Pending" file. 327 units... Ouch!

Hmm, you're right. Most WUs get results long before the deadline expires, and this wouldn't affect them. For the WUs that don't make it within the limit (already a small fraction of the total), most of them would have to be resent anyway so you're just moving up the timing by a few days. In the very rare instance that even the resent WU doesn't get results it would increase load a little bit by being more aggressive about sending out another one, but that doesn't even seem worth mentioning.
