Hi,

I have one too many configurations I want to set up, even using the various school / home / work / vanilla choices, and am wondering if it is possible to use a config file to override the web settings for GPU utilization factor.

For example, with "School" my setting is 0.5 on the web. I want to add another computer to "School" and use all the same settings, except I want this one to use 0.33.

Thanks!

You can create a app_config.xml for that computer and place it in the Einstein@home folder and it should override the web setting.

I would post one for you but there are several things that you need to know.

I don't know which machine you are talking about as you have both Nvidia and AMD Graphic cards.

Which work units are you talking about as you need to know the application's name to place it into the app_config.xml correctly.

How much CPU do your work units require and how many cores do you have on that CPU and are you using those cores for another work or are they only supporting the GPUs?

Hi,

The web settings are for 0.5 GPU, and I'm only doing the Parkes PMPS XT on machines assigned to that category, no CPU work. I want the new machine to follow the web settings, but to do 0.33 on the Parkes PMPS XT. It has an nVidia card and I allow the beta app; all of its current tasks are BRP6-Beta-cuda55, v 1.57

The CPU is an AMD 6000 series, 6 "cores". It is automatically assigning 0.2 CPUs per task. I can set the core usage to whatever is necessary, but haven't adjusted it since no machine on this school category is doing CPU tasks.

Thank you!

Ok, try this. Make an xml

Ok, try this. Make an xml file and save it as app_config.xml and place it into the Einstein@home folder.

Then have BOINC reread the config files.

If you don't know how to make a xml or where the files should go let us know.

Good luck

There is only going to be 1 GPU in there right? or is there going to be more?

Thank you -- I can make the XML file. This system only has one GPU and will probably stay that way; it's in my home office, and if I draw any more power the room gets too hot. I will test it tonight.
