Topic 188376

Hi,

I installed boinc on machine for burn-in purposes, but I'll have to return the machine to its owner.

I'll finish the current WUs, but already got another one scheduled.
Since this will unecessarily block the other coworkers on this WU, how could I refuse to get more WUs? and how could I return the WU already scheduled?

Do the credits gained by this machine remain if I detach it?

thx for any hints.

The easiest way for preventing this machine from getting new work seems to be to set your preferences to values that exclude it (e.g. "use no more than 0k of disk space" or similar).

The credits are bound to your account, not to the machine, so you will keep them.

thx for your answer. I

thx for your answer.

I think I could use a special profile 'work' and move the machine to it.
When do you think is the best moment to reduce the disk use?
will it affect the WUs currently computed?

Or should I wait, until the WUs are done?

btw, the WU already sheduled is not shown by the machine, I just see it in my account. (did an update already)
this machine:

will finish in approx. 4:30h

Sounds good in general, but

Sounds good in general, but remember that the localized profiles are somewhat broken in the 4.19 client.

Actually I've never done this myself yet, so I don't know the best timing for it - I remember an older thread discussing this, but can't find it righ now.

The combination of 4.25 and

The combination of 4.25 and BOINCView lets you drain a computer of work. The 4.25 Manager does not have the correct link, but BOINCView does.

Unfortunally, the machine did

Unfortunally, the machine did draw another 2 WUs, despite the setting of 0 diskspace.

I did not try the 4.25 client and Boinview as suggested.

Is there a way to cancel WUs manually? the account shows 5 WUs which definetely will never be finished by this machine.

I think this would speed up getting credits for the other computers running on these WUs.

I have drained my machine 2

I have drained my machine 2 times and both times I set my connect to server value to 0 and did a manual update after the last wu was done, no new wu downloaded. Last time was today before I upgraded to boinc 4.25.
