BOINC is installed into /var on my FreeBSD machine. There's 1.2 GB free... is it actually asking for 1.4 GB?!
I've been running E@H with no problems on this machine for over a year... am I not going to be able to run this (at least in /var) anymore?

No, not really. There are, however, setings that prevent BOINC from using the last bits of your disk space. If you visit your General Boinc Setings (you may follow this link, then you'll see a section titled Disk and memory usage. There are a couple of settings that may prevent your machine from getting more work.
