GPUGRID has announced that they are about to release a new version of their application that requires the 301.32 or higher Nvidia driver. I've already downloaded 301.42. Will you be ready for users who want to share their GPUs between your project and GPUGRID?

Our CUDA apps are compatible with this driver.

While the current app will work with the 301.xx drivers, it seems the cuda42 compiler gives a speed-up to existing apps. Its more noticable on the Fermi and Kepler based cards. Are there any plans to produce a cuda42 app for those capable hosts?

In GPUgrids case they are settling on cuda40 as a minimum for the older cards. There will be a cuda42 app for the Fermi and Kepler-based cards.

I am running a cuda42 Seti app from one of the optimisers which has also yielded speed improvements.

I have put this on my list of

I have put this on my list of things to suggest to the team to look into, but to be honest, it is not very high on this list ;-). We certainly want to support older drivers as well, and we re kind of reluctant to have yet-another-app-version in production (management effort for teting, building, tracking errors etc).

We also need to bring the OpenCL apps closer to the CUDA stuff in terms of performance, so I guess that's where we will put most of our effort in the near future. Just my personal view, tho.

Its been a while since then and the OpenCL app was updated. Any chance this may have progressed up the list?

An alternative might be to skip cuda42 and jump to cuda50 now Nvidia have released 306.23 drivers as WHQL.

With more and more Kepler cards out there, it look more interesting to get cuda42 or better cuda50 versions in production. Therefore, strongly support Marks view.

With very best regards

Indeed, we will be looking

Indeed, we will be looking into this, but I don't want to promise anything. As you can see from the Status Page, the current GW run is coming to an end in a matter of weeks rather than months and we are currently working on setting up the next run, which has the highest prio on our list. Also we are planning to refurbish and modernize our E@H web pages...stay tuned.
