Hello,

I have installed BOINC and set up  a new account one week ago and everything seems to work OK. Tasks are being downloaded and results uploaded and validated, adding credits to my account.

Just one question. I have not received even one mail either from BOINC or Einstein indicating that setup is done or account is OK. Is that normal or there is some mistake on my installation. (I have Cick on YES the option of receiving mails)

Thanks a lot for your help in advance

Hi Miguel,

Welcome to the Einstein project.  I just had a quick look at your returned tasks and, yes, everything seems to be fine.

I believe that is quite normal.  The option to receive mail is really to give the project permission to intrude on your privacy should they have something of interest to send out to volunteers.  Some people like a lot of communication - others don't - so the project tries to respect your wishes.  In my experience, e-mail communication is quite rare.  The main method of communication on a day-to-day basis is the message board system.

The project assumes that people in general are able to browse the website and find all sorts of information about their crunching performance.  If anyone has any particular issue, they can report it on the appropriate forum.  There are lots of volunteers who will try to respond to solve any problem or answer any query.  If it is something that only the Devs can answer, the response might take a little longer, but one of them will do so as quickly as possible.

Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Gary Thanks a lot for

Hi Gary

Thanks a lot for your explanation. It's what I supposed, but just wanted to be sure.

I also like the idea of not being too much mailed.

Cheers,

Miguel
