No disk space

What are you settings under your account? The ones I am looking for are:
Use no more than ?? GB disk space
Leave at least (Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) ?.? GB disk space free
Use no more than ??% of total disk space

To have the limits more

To have the limits more transparent, limit it only through one of the three parameters and choose high values for the other two, e.g.

Use no more than 80 GB disk space
Leave at least 5 GB disk space free <= LIMIT
Use no more than 100% of total disk space

or

Use no more than 80 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 50% of total disk space <= LIMIT

or

Use no more than 10 GB disk space <= LIMIT
Leave at least 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 100% of total disk space

Oh, and don't forget you have to use decimal dot, not decimal comma

Is the disk partitioned into several partitions (C:, D:. E:, etc)? If so can you tell us the sizes of each partition?

Cheers,
Gary.

You can see some more

You can see some more detailed reporting on the BOINC scheduler's internal calculations regarding disk space, if you look at the on-line scheduler log for the machine in question. This is typicallly how I go about understanding why a machine does not get work due to disk space requirements or limits.

Cheers,

Maybe it would be a good

Maybe it would be a good enhancement to make the message more detailed, i.e. make it tell the user which of the three limiting values is expected to be violated.

Hi!
I am getting the same problem in the last two days!!
27/02/2007 8.05.29|Einstein@Home|Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 65.1 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.

Which is the "maximum disk space used" that message says?
I am at work, my disk is 36.3 GB and there are 1.65 GB free. My prefs are:
General Home School Work
Use no more than 1 1 -- 1 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.2 0.2 -- 0.2 GB disk space free
Use no more than 50 50 -- 80 % of total disk space
Write to disk
at most every 120 120 -- 120 seconds
Use no more than 50 75 -- 70 % of total virtual memory

and Seti@home works well!
I have tried many different settings, even restarting the program and the PC, but no use at all! Always the same answer!
Which can be the solution?
Thank you all for your help!!

Paolo

Use no more than 1 GB disk space
...

1 GB for BOINC plus projects is very little, considering that BOINC itself grows from version to version, even without the projects.

Best would be to ZIP some files into archives that you rarely use or even delete some that you do not need at all.

Currently this is what BOINC calculates :

Quote:
got request for 1550.655052 seconds of work; available disk 0.065052 GB
no disk space but no files we can delete!

Thank you for your note!
My Boinc directory, plus projects, is about 36 MB, so it seems quite little respect 1 GB.
Please, where have you find the data in your last quote?

Thank you again!

If you go to your host list here on Einstein, the rightmost column says "Last contact". The link below opens a log file on the server.

You have to locate your computer in that list, i.e. search for 799791 on that page (Ctrl+F in your web browser)
