Hello,
I've been doing this boinc thing for a bit, i wonder why
version 4.25 runs so poorly (9.x meg) apposed to 4.19 (1.6 meg). I'm not basing preformance on package size but it is an observaiont that .25 runs a little slower.
I've been having problems using boinc .19 as a service. I can do a -install and get the service running but it does not crunch anything (boinc_cli just sits around). Whats up with that???
In addition to that i'm having problems with .19 clients not updating the location. It seems that all machines ive set to home and work prefs still think they are infact home pc and use home/default prefs..
lastly, i wrote a little vb application to show my stats and stuff on a lcd screen, does einstein have any .php's that will return my rank based on id??

One guy at my german forum made the opposite experiences with Seti. I never bothered to keep track.

Here in this thread @Seti is the solution:
Here is a manual solution. Exit out of BOINC. Edit your client_state.xml file. Search for the host_venue tag set. If your file was like mine, there was no host_venue tagset. In that case add the following line
school
just before the last line which should be
Once you have saved the changes, restart BOINC and you will see it now uses the alternate prefs. This change will remain even after your projects contact the server.
