I am going to start off by posting my rig's specs.

Windows XP Professional with SP2
Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton Core with 512KB Cache)
2048 GB DDR Dual Channel PC 3200 (Running in Dual Channel @ 400Mhz and with timings 6-3-2-2)
Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 in AGP 8X (Custom Drivers)
Wester Digital 200 GB w/ 8 MB Buffer (Caviar Model)
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard (Rev. 1013 - latest)
500 Watt Powersupply.

Now I am seriously curious on how my system's performance should fair. What are some do's and don't's for my specific computer?

Can I run with graphics on without hindering performance because I have a high end 6600GT graphics card? Does the card itself take away the processing required to draw a picture, which I am assuming uses OpenGL or DX?

Does an overclock processor corrupt the data sent to the servers which I have crunched? I have heard stories.... which I can't tell if they are rumors or not.

Where on the web can I find resources for tweaking BOINC, or finding a very nice BOINC replacement? I would prefer quite a few opinions on what you think, and why you think the program you use is better (performance wise of course.)

I am going to go ahead and thanks for any insight, and sorry if this is redundant information but I was kinda hoping to find some specific information geared toward me, by experienced users.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.00 GHz 4MB L2 Cache
2048 Dual Channel DDR2 553 MHZ
ATi Mobile Radeon x1400 256 MB DDR2 x16 PCI-E

If you start at the upper

If you start at the upper link to the old site...the FAQ has a good section on some of the things you can do to boost performance.

There is a good thing in the CPDN FAQ I think which points to some system maintenance things and how to test your system for stability.

I don't know your graphics card, but the graphics will always take some CPU time (even if it is not much). However the rendering is pushed off to the graphics card if the card can do it.

Does an overclock processor corrupt the data sent to the servers which I have crunched? I have heard stories.... which I can't tell if they are rumors or not.

Maybe overclocking will cause problems, and maybe it won't. If you overdo the overclocking, you will discover that you are not gettng credit because of verification errors.
