Ian&SteveC,

Thank you for the feedback.

The target would be a mining frame. If I bought it, it might be another GPU and whatever system.

Problem is I can get a dual CPU mb for about $100 more which would give me more stuff to experiment with.

It must be time to start up my testbed again. I am getting itchy fingers.

Got 5 GPUs running on an Asus b450-F pushed by a 3700x CPU.

I'm impressed with your sticktoitiveness.  It must be making you feel good about now.

What do you expect for RAC ?

Not much till it cools in

Not much till it cools in fall. The p100-104's seem to be worth 0.7M so 6M+2.1M on pure e@h grp#1 tasks.

I expect it to be too hot to run continuously.

This is a 2 rtx 3080 ti + 3 p100-104 rig (for anyone's info). Or whatever the model is.

Just put a massive fan next

Just put a massive fan next to it.  A car radiator fan works wonders.  And it conveniently uses the 12V from the PC PSU.

If this page takes an hour to load, reduce posts per page to 20 in your settings, then the tinpot 486 Einstein uses can handle it.

I'd really like to see you keep it going until the fall.  That would be an amazing improvement in your PC skills by keeping your tinkering fingers and hands away from it.

FWIW, my computer which I've nick named Godzilla is using [2] EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming GPUs and is currently at ~ 6.5+M RAC, and is still slowly climbing.  I "hope" it will reach and/or exceed 7M by the time winter arrives again.  Don't know if it will make it, but one can hope.

I wonder if this wouldn't be an excellent choice for a gpu-centric epyc system.

It would handle any project that requires multiple CPU threads per gpu task  And partially off set the electric cost of running GPU's.

And for the core count this is cheap.

But George.  Its got one more 1x pcie slot left.  And I have a gtx 1080 ti that is worth about 0.9-1.1M that I could try.  After some more riser kits arrive.

I have gotten it moved to the living room and it is online for now.

Trying to see how hot the living room will get.  Have a floor fan blowing on me right now so I am not very overheated.

But how much wattage will is

But how much wattage will is it pulling now, and how much additional wattage with your 1080Ti ?

Do you have enough power available with room to spare ?

Are you implying Tom is likely to break things!?

Yes. I do break things :(

Certain CPU sockets and I have a horrible history.

I will get something working. And then break it (often irreparably).

In this case I have managed to get 5 GPU's working on an Ryzen b450-f motherboard. Given the pcie lane limitations of this CPU and the chipsets it is an amazingly high GPU count.

If it is stable.
