I had a computer MB die a while back. I cobbled together a new one and got it up and running einstein@home. Sadly I did not notice the single character difference in the name until the new one had done quite a bit of work. I tried merging the old name with the new one and got a message that there are no computers eligible to merge into that one. Is there anyway to merge the data from the old computer name into the new computer? Thanks Stephen

By "name", I assume you're referring to the hostname that you've assigned to the new machine. BOINC doesn't care about the hostname. It assigns a unique host ID to each machine you have attached to the project. If a new machine is replacing an older incarnation, and as long as the hardware is roughly similar, I think you should be able to merge the two, irrespective of hostname.
In your extended list of computers, can you confirm which two host IDs need to be merged? There are 13 entries in total and it would be nice to know exactly which two need to be merged.
Cheers,
Gary.
Thank You for the reply.

Thank You for the reply. Computer MarkWhatney no longer exists. I want to merge computer MarkWhatney's work into the new computer named MarcWhatney. Mark is a character in a great book. Marc is a good friend in real life and I had a brain fade when I named the new computer.

What you name your computer
)
What you name your computer on your internal network is invisible to anybody but you. Only the computer ID that BOINC assigns to your hosts is externally visible to anybody else. So you will have to tell us which computer ID's you are speaking of. Go to your list of computers and find the ID number for your host you want to merge.
Open up the More link on your Computers page on your account to see the Computer ID's.

The hostname you used doesn't matter and is not used internally by BOINC. Please click the link I gave you and identify the computer IDs of both the old dead host and the new current host. The only way to have your total stats showing under the current ID is to merge the old ID into the new ID.
Cheers,
Gary.

Just to pound the point in a little deeper Computer ID in question is an integer. For example a machine with an E8500 CPU has the ID 12344474 and the details page is at:
https://einsteinathome.org/host/12344474
The main reason I gave a link

The main reason I gave a link and called it the "extended list of computers" is that clicking a link on the account page shows you your current list - ie. active in last 30 days. The OP mentioned that he hadn't noticed that the stats for the old machine weren't being added to for quite a while. The 'old' machine isn't visible without making sure to select 'all hosts' and not just the current ones. I was just trying to make sure the old host could be easily found and wasn't being 'hidden' by just looking at an active list.

Gary.

Just had a friend run into the same issue. You won't be able to merge computers if the two computers have overlapping contact dates with the scheduler. The one computer that you don't want to see will disappear off your list in 30 days anyway.

Just looked at your computers. I don't even see the host 12327400 in your computer list. Not sure where you are seeing the computer. Normally you have to have the same hardware and the same OS for the two computers you want to merge.
