I suddenly got a huge number of "Error while computing" errors, with CPU tasks. GPU tasks work fine. This is an example WU. Do you guys have an idea why my PC suddenly has these errors? The system is only a couple of weeks old, and the CPU temperature stays under 40 degrees celcius under load. Is it unstable in some way?

Could be your computer's memory. I'd run Prime95 to see if that one can easily run work, or do an extensive test with Memtest86+

In addition to the memory tests have you rebooted in the last day or so? If not do that too, sometimes new machines get a ton of updates and not always get rebooted as often as they should be.

I've run Memtest86+. It takes a very long time, but it found no problem. All tests passed fine.
mikey, I indeed didn't restart the pc for quite some time now, even though I now had to for memtest86+. However, the error already seems to be gone. I didn't restart initially but just reconnected with the server and all WUs since then are running fine. I've still no idea why suddenly all WUs in my cache suddenly errored out, but at least I'm up and running again.

I agree, question is whether

I agree, question is whether Gremlins are in the RAM or on the disks maybe :-) All errors seem to be related to "inconsistent" data files, but wingmen crunch the units just fine so it's more likely that a data file got corrupted on the disk after download, or maybe is blocked by an over-sensitive virus scanner .
This is one of the rare cases where a project reset may help, I guess.
