A new MacOS X Intel App is available from our Beta Test Page.

This is the second attempt to get the file handling working with the new "symlink" Core Clients (6.1.12 & up), hopefully without breaking the behavior for older ones. The "science code" is the same as in 4.42, featuring the "interleaved kernel loop", there shouldn't be any difference in speed.

The changes in 4.42 gave a different name to the checkpoint file, resulting in tasks from previous versions started at 0% when picked up by 4.42. This effect should be reversed in 4.44, so I set the app_info.xml to finish tasks that were began with 4.42 with this App, and finish all other tasks of other previous versions with 4.44. Note that I might not have succeeded in this, this is Beta test.

Happy testing!

MacOS X Intel S5R3 App 4.44 available for Beta Test

Got computation errors on four work units (38404645, 38413853, 38416507, and 38417617)
after installing 4.44. I'm going back to 4.42 for now.

[edit] Is 4.42 still available? I cannot find any links to download it.

[edit] One more question: how do I get rid of 4.44? I've deleted the app_info file, but every work unit I get still tries to use 4.44 and errors out.

Same problem here,
I downloaded and installed 4.44 this morning and within a couple of minutes it had gracefully burned away my daily in quota by producing calculation errors on all of the workunits

I detached from and reattached to the project to get everything back to normal, but as of now, my client does not get any work (or anything else) from the server, because I'm over my daily quota.

You'r right, it may work with

You'r right, it may work with the new Clients, but doesn't reliably with the old ones.

I'll withdraw it, i.e. put 4.42 back on the Beta test page.
